Understanding the Scale of Need
We utilize a 360-degree approach that looks at four critical pillars of need. Here is how we define these concepts, why they matter, and how they drive our organizational goals

Justice-Impacted
Proximity to Violence
Shared Trauma
DISCLOSURE: These percentages do not measure the community's character; it measures the historical footprint of over-policing and under-investment. In high-density communities, a single arrest and shooting creates a structural ripple effect across multiple generations and neighboring households.
Why a 360 Approach is Required

Breakdown: Watts is a vibrant, deeply rooted community composed of roughly 70%+ Hispanic/Latino and 20%+ Black/African American residents.
The Watts 360 Approach: Our team is scouted directly from the community and reflects the families we serve. We curate gatherings and events to actively blend languages, celebrate cultural milestones, and focus on shared community goals.

Breakdown: Where a child grows up heavily dictates their life trajectory. The "opportunity gap" proves that neighborhood environments—not just individual effort—shape future mobility.
The Watts 360 Approach: We treat income disparity as a resource and opportunity deficit, not a talent deficit. We provide workshops on budgeting, credit building and wealth management, while actively advocating for additional economic initiatives in the neighborhood.

Breakdown: While the average household income in LA County is around $90,000, it drops drastically in Watts, plummeting to an estimated $19,200 inside Nickerson Gardens.
The Watts 360 Approach: We are a rapid-response network offering mentorship with paid opportunities, expanding digital access points, empowering local residents to realize their professional dreams, and coordinating social aid and essential resource distribution.

Breakdown: Watts has one of the youngest populations in the county, with a disproportionately high number of single-parent, female-led households and grandparent caretakers.
The Watts 360 Approach: We implement a dual-generation approach by supporting the parent with workforce readiness and mental wellness, while providing youth with constructive, safe environments. Our programs are designed so that both parents and children are engaged in enriching activities in the exact same ecosystem.
